A particularly inspired watch replica is the new fake Tudor Fastrider Black Shield watch presented with flourishes of red detail, set against a black canvas. It resembles basalt, the outcome of volcanic activity and reinforces the perception that this is a timepiece with a sizzling appeal. In 2012, Tudor had tongues wagging with their sublime Heritage Black Bay. It had success written all over it. Taking its inspiration from a 1954 model, yet reworked to devastatingly handsome effect, few could ignore its spellbinding aesthetics.
It was one of the hottest watches of 2012 and still remains so. Moreover, I have friends (who shall remain nameless), that work for rival brands, but secretly own a Heritage Black Bay.Indeed, a journalist friend of mine, based in Asia, talked of the unprecedented demand for this stunning watch.
One brand that was firmly on the agenda was Tudor.I have just returned from Baselworld 2013 and can report that it did not disappoint. There were many novelties which engendered unbridled avarice in this die-hard fan of horology.

The difficulty for any artist is that after producing a major hit, how do you repeat the success? Well, it seems Tudor may have done it again with several potential box office hits revealed this year.
The Tudor Fastrider Black Shield chronogrpah watch replica is also available with a matt black case featuring a bronze tint on the hands and hour markers. However, the focus of this article is the variant with a matt black case and red markers. Whilst both watches are similar in format, they somehow have a very different character.
The dial is presented in a matt black finish reminiscent of a Stealth fighter. It has a slightly naughty appearance, with flourishes of devil red to ignite latent passion and fire in the most conservative of souls.
The character of this watch replica is intrinsically daring and sits perfectly with the Ducatti motorbike which features in the Tudor brochure.
At 3 o’clock, a 30-minute chronograph counter resides. It is snailed at its centre and framed with a circlet marked with Arabic numerals. This style is repeated for the 12-hour chronograph counter at 6 o’clock and the subsidiary seconds display at 9 o’clock. The consistent use of size, texture, design and colour affords balance. No aspects appear to clash or conflict.
The brand’s nomenclature resides at noon, beneath the red logo.
A circular date aperture is located between 4 o’clock and 5 o’clock. The red text on the date disc is clear and I found very legible.
Hours are marked with red applied indices. They lead the eye to the centre of the dial and their three dimensional form provides depth, enhancing readability.
As you admire the dial, there is much detail to engage the eyes, yet nothing appears extraneous. All aspects are wonderfully resolved. The hour and minute hands are open-worked near their fulcrum, yet, solid at their tips with red centres.
A central chronograph seconds hand is presented in red but with a black counterbalance. The interplay of red and black is magnificent and bestows the watch replica with a unique appearance unlike any other watch replica I can readily think of.
A case diameter of 42mm shoud appeeal to a vast number of potential wearers.
A tachymeter scale features on the bezel and whilst not the most legible scale created by Tudor, I feel adding red or white markings to the bezel would have compromised the aesthetic allure of this watch. Moreover, in my opinion, the resultant styling usurps any need for enhanced legibility of the bezel.
The matt black ceramic case reinforces the covert appearance of the watch. It appears like a timepiece which wants to hide beneath the radar, trying to go undetected, only for the red detail to reveal the wearers location.
On the caseband a black shield features adjacent 9 o‘clock. It features a rapid date corrector. It is exquisitely executed and provides a further flourish of style that distinguishes this watch replica as something a little special.
The Tudor Fastrider Black Shield is about high precision and reliable timekeeping. This was always the aspiration of the company’s founder, Hans Wilsdorff when he launched Tudor back in 1946.
It is mechanically honest, robust and trustworthy.
The self-winding Tudor Calibre 7753 includes 27 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz).
This movement does not pretend to be the last word in haute horology with an absence of hand finishing. To seek this from Tudor is to misunderstand the product presented.
One thing is certain with Tudor, the brand is in its ascendancy. The styling is truly sublime, the reliability is a given and the pricing remarkably accessible despite the profound quality proffered. Moreover, vintage Tudor models have gained much attention recently with rising values evidenced in prestigious auction houses.
This is a brand to watch, no pun intended.
“Some like it hot” continues to be one of my favourite films. The black and white film starring Jack Lemon and Tony Curtis, has grown into a classic. I would not be surprised if a similar fate befalls the Tudor Fastrider Black Shield with many collectors hurriedly trying to secure this latest timepiece from the Genevan maison before it too, becomes a classic with comensurately high values.
In summary the Tudor Black Shield is hot and I for one like it.

Like many collectors, I have owned one or two Rolex watches and appreciate their robust and reliable construction. The same qualities are to be found with sister-brand Tudor. Where there is a distinct difference between the two brands of late, is in the styling of the best quality fake Tudor watches. I would argue that whilst comparing the two, no brand is better or worse, but rather different in the design presented.
